Amelyn, 37, serves as a Paglingap Coordinator with the Visions of Hope Foundation in Panay Region. In this role, she leads programs that converge social services, disaster response, and community development. Her work spans 22 branches and involves mentoring up to 300 community servant leaders, organizing health and wellness projects, disaster response efforts, and capacity-building initiatives that also support Aeta communities in Haniway and Barotac Viejo.
Amelyn is the primary breadwinner in her family. Her salary is carefully allocated to support the needs of her mother and the studies of her younger siblings, leaving no room to purchase essential work tools such as a personal computer. In her almost four years of community work, she has only depended on a desktop at the regional office, which was recently damaged, causing file losses and delays. When possible, she borrows a colleague’s laptop, but it is inconvenient for field visits as it requires a charger each time it is used. A tablet issued by the organization provides more portability, but its small screen limits her ability to prepare reports, give presentations, or work directly with community members. Her work requires mobility and consistent access to technology, but the lack of personal equipment forces her to spend long hours in the office, limiting flexible engagement in the field.
A Coin Grant would allow Amelyn to consolidate data efficiently, reduce overtime, and maintain program continuity across all 22 branches without being tethered to the office. Having a personal computer and reliable internet access, she could focus on her mission of mentoring community leaders, supporting their spiritual growth, and expanding social impact by guiding their journey of change in the communities she serves.
With the right tools, Amelyn could overcome logistical challenges and turn each community visit into an opportunity for meaningful change. A Coin Grant would not only make her work more efficient but also expand the reach of her efforts, fostering lasting hope across the communities of Panay.
The Computer and Internet (Coin) Grant—a key initiative under our Create ASPIRE program—is designed for students, home-based workers, and community leaders. The Coin Grant provides laptops or desktop computers along with internet subsidies to individuals who are digitally literate but lack the means to purchase.
