Who can apply for the Coin Grant?

You're eligible if you:
 • Know how to use the computer and the internet;
 • Cannot afford to buy a computer and internet access;
 • Need computer and internet access for school, livelihood, or community work;
 • Are willing to follow our grant guidelines.

Why do applicants need to already know how to use the computer and navigate the internet?

The Coin Grant aims to level the digital playing field by equipping grantees with personal computers and internet access. This empowers them to develop and apply their digital literacy skills through direct access to both hardware and internet connectivity.

Question 3

Do you only give computers or provide internet subsidy?

Accepted Answer

Both! Our Coin Grant is a 2-in-1 package that makes computer and cellphone ownership and internet access possible, ensuring grantees have everything they need to participate in the digital world.

Question 4

How long does the internet subsidy last?

Accepted Answer

We provide 12 months of internet subsidy, with the possibility of extension.

Question 5

What kind of laptop can I donate?

Accepted Answer

We accept both new and pre-owned laptops, as long as they can perform basic tasks.

Question 6

What are the requirements for donating a second-hand laptop?

Accepted Answer

1. It must have at least 3 years of shelf life left;
2. It needs to include the laptop charger.
3. Other tools such as the mouse, laptop bag, or headphones are optional additions.
4. Hardware should only have minimal defects that would not interfere with the computer's performance.
5.  Minimal defects can include the following:
   1. Cosmetic wear – small scratches or scuffs that don't affect use
   2. Battery wear – slightly reduced battery life, but still usable
   3. Low-impact issues – missing rubber feet, faded keyboard labels, etc.
6. Hardware does not need to come with pre-installed software licenses as long as the computer can reliably connect to the internet.

Can our company do bulk donations?

Question 8

Do I need to wipe/reset the laptop before donating?

Accepted Answer

We highly encourage donors to remove any personal data from their devices prior to donation. Our team also conducts a thorough secondary inspection to ensure all data has been cleared before the devices are passed on to our grantees. If any data is found on the donated device, we take careful measures to ensure that it is not accessed, shared, or compromised in any way.

Can I donate a desktop computer instead of a laptop?

Accepted Answer

While desktop computers are welcome donations, we generally prefer laptops due to their portability and which better suits the needs of our grantees.

Question 10

How much does it cost to sponsor the internet subsidy of one recipient?

Accepted Answer

The 12-month internet subsidy costs about 6,000 pesos.

Where do I drop off or send my donated laptop?

Accepted Answer

To donate a laptop, please visit Create Foundation’s Create ASPIRE page and fill out the donation form. Once submitted, our team will reach out with details on where to drop off or send your device.

For bulk donations from companies or organizations, kindly email us at partnerships@createfoundation.ph so we can coordinate logistics and partnership details directly.

What is a Coin Grant creator?

Accepted Answer

The label we call the person who gave a laptop and/or money for at least one-year internet subsidy under our Coin Grant project.

Question 13

How do you ensure the Coin (Computer and Internet) Grant is being used properly?

Accepted Answer

Coin Grantees sign a three-year contract where they signify to use the computer and internet access as intended. Also, we open a ledger for the internet access subsidy and give the budget on a monthly basis until the subsidy is used up. Lastly, grantees have to submit a yearly report demonstrating the Coin Grant's impact.

Will I receive updates on how my donation was used?

Accepted Answer

Yes! We provide at least one report in the first year, and two more updates in the next two years if applicable.

Question 15

Can I directly contact the person I'm sponsoring?

Accepted Answer

No, direct communication between the Coin Grantee and Coin Grant creator is not ideal. This approach ensures that appreciation remains respectful and does not lead to emotional dependency, undue influence, or possible misuse of the relationship.

Question 16

What if the computer breaks or gets damaged?

Accepted Answer

Second-hand laptops should have at least 3 years of shelf life left and be in really good condition. This ensures that it would not need any major repairs during the duration of the grant. In case that a repair is needed, the grantee may pay for the repair if financially able at the time of the need; otherwise, we will shoulder the cost to ensure continued access.
