John Lloyd is an Electrical Technology student at the Technological University of the Philippines, Talisay, and the first recipient of our Coin Grant. Hailing from the rural south of Negros Island, he travels 4–5 hours just to reach the university.

Despite the strain of long commutes and a limited weekly allowance, he remains driven by the hope of becoming the first college graduate in his family.

John Lloyd was a consistent honors student in high school, even serving as a working student during his senior year.
Now, with the help of the College Scholarship Grant from Create Foundation, he is able to sustain living in a dorm near his university. This transition allows him to avoid the long commutes that previously took valuable time away from his studies.
Our College Scholarship Grant is for students in tech-based courses to help ensure that we’re building the next tech generation, and that part of that generation are students from low income families who have the potential to thrive in tech but need school funding to earn tech degrees. There are many students like John Lloyd. With your support, we can break barriers, fund education, and build the next tech generation.
